What do you call it when you do the same thing over and over again and expect different results each time?

One Answer

Lunacy. Sheer, outright insanity!

How could it make any sense to expect different results if you do the same thing?

Another Answer

Education. Think about practicing a skill, aiming at getting better and better. Your intention doesn't really change, but the results of your actions line up closer and closer to the desired result.

Much of our humanity, and many of our education methods, rely on mimicry, the imaginative taking-up of an identity, and the simple process of model, lead, and test.

The trick, then, is to know when you are following the process of education to improve your skills and when you are acting like a lunatic! Knowing when to change your mind is the fine art of wisdom.
